Where to Travel International Destinations from Delhi by Month

The best international destinations from Delhi by month change more than most people expect, because the same place can be perfect in January and miserable in July. Dubai is a delight in winter and punishing in summer. The Maldives is at its sunniest when Europe is freezing. Bali is crowded and dry in August and wet and quiet in January. This guide goes through the year one month at a time, so you can pick a destination when it’s actually at its best, or at its best value.

Weather and crowd patterns here are typical, not guaranteed, and prices move with school holidays, festivals and how early you book.

January: Winter Sun and Festival Season

January is when warm destinations make the most sense for anyone fleeing Delhi’s cold. Dubai is at its most comfortable, with mild days that suit outdoor sightseeing, and its winter events keep the city lively. The Maldives is in its dry season, so skies are clear and seas calm, though prices sit at their yearly high. Thailand and Singapore are both easy short-haul options. If you’d like the Maldives in January, book early, because the best resorts fill up.

February: Quieter Beaches, Still Dry

February keeps the same dry-season weather as January in the Maldives, and it tends to be among the driest months there. It’s also a popular Valentine’s and honeymoon window, so couples should reserve villas well ahead. Dubai stays pleasant, Sri Lanka’s southwest coast is in its good-weather window, and Thailand is still in its cooler, drier stretch.

March: Cherry Blossom and the Last Good Weather

Late March is when Japan’s cherry blossom season begins, and it’s one of the most photographed times to visit. Blossom timing shifts each year with the weather, so plan around forecasts rather than fixed dates. Dubai is warming up but still fine, and the Maldives remains dry and hot. Thailand is heading into its hottest months, so beach days are great but city sightseeing gets tiring.

April: Japan, Bali and Fewer Crowds in the Maldives

Early April is prime blossom time in Japan. Bali’s drier season is getting going, which makes it a good moment before the summer rush. The Maldives is at the tail end of its dry season, with crowds thinning out, which can mean better availability. Spring also brings Europe into bloom, with milder weather before the summer peak. Thailand is very hot in April, so we’d usually suggest other options.

May: Bali, Switzerland and the Start of Maldives Value Season

May is a smart month for Bali: dry weather, and ahead of the July and August crowds. Late spring is lovely in Switzerland too, though some high-altitude lifts and trails may still be closed, so check what’s open. Azerbaijan is pleasantly mild. The Maldives enters its wetter season, so resort rates fall, and if you can accept some showers, it’s an excellent value month. Keep in mind that May and June coincide with Indian school holidays, which push flights up.

June: Mountains and Summer in Europe

June suits mountain scenery and long daylight hours. Switzerland has open trails, green valleys and reliable lake weather, but it’s also expensive in peak holiday weeks. The UK is at its best from late spring through summer, and our UK tour packages from Delhi cover London and beyond. Dubai is extremely hot now, so it’s mostly for indoor-focused trips or bargain hunters.

July: Peak Season in Europe and Bali

July is peak for both Europe and Bali. That means the best weather and the fullest calendars, so book early and expect higher prices. Europe is at its busiest, with long days and full attractions. In the Maldives it’s the wetter season, which also means lower prices, and it’s popular with surfers. If you want a quiet beach and don’t mind the odd shower, July can be a bargain.

August: Bali’s Dry Season and Maldives Deals

Bali’s dry season is in full swing, which means beach weather but also crowded villas. For honeymooners, our Bali honeymoon packages focus on private pool villas and quieter areas like Ubud and Uluwatu, which helps avoid the busiest strips. Europe and the UK remain in peak season. The Maldives is still in low season, with attractive resort pricing for travellers flexible on weather.

September: The Smartest Month for Europe

September is often the sweet spot for Europe and Switzerland: summer crowds thin, weather stays pleasant, and prices ease. Autumn colour starts to appear in the mountains. Bali is still dry. The Maldives can be among its wettest months, so we wouldn’t pick it now unless you’re chasing a deal. Dubai is still hot at the start of the month and cooling toward the end.

October: Dubai Cools, Vietnam Shines

By late October, Dubai starts to turn comfortable again, and it’s a good time to book ahead for the winter peak. Northern Vietnam, including Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, tends to have pleasant, drier weather. Europe is in its autumn season with fewer crowds, and Bali is near the end of its dry stretch. October also contains festival holidays in India, so flights are busy.

November: Dubai, Thailand and Early Maldives Value

November is when many warm-weather favourites come back into form. Dubai is comfortable, Thailand’s cooler dry season begins, and Japan’s autumn leaves peak, especially in Kyoto in the second half. In the Maldives, November is a transition month: the weather is improving and rates sit between low-season and peak prices, so it’s one of the better-value months. For a more indulgent trip, our guide to luxury Dubai packages shows what a premium itinerary looks like.

December: Peak Season for Beaches and Christmas Markets

December is peak season almost everywhere warm. The Maldives is in its dry season and priced accordingly, Dubai and Thailand are at their most comfortable, and Switzerland and much of Europe have Christmas markets and snow. Bali is in its wetter season, though it’s still visited. December is also the month where booking late costs the most, so lock in flights and hotels early.

Entry Rules to Check Before You Book

Visa rules matter as much as weather. At the time of writing, Indian passport holders can visit Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days, but must complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online beforehand. Dubai requires a UAE visa, which is applied for online, while Europe and Switzerland need a Schengen visa and the UK needs its own separate visa. The Maldives and Bali have their own entry processes, and Vietnam and Sri Lanka use online systems. Rules change, so check official sources close to your travel date. Our list of countries Indians can visit without a visa explains the differences, and Travelistaan’s visa assistance can help with documents.

For destination-specific planning, the official Visit Maldives and Visit Dubai sites are good places to confirm seasonal events and entry information.

Timing a Honeymoon

For honeymoons, the main trade-off is weather versus price. Dry-season months give the best conditions in the Maldives but cost the most, while shoulder months can offer better value with a little more weather risk. Couples planning a trip after a winter wedding season usually find the Maldives and Dubai fit best from December to March, and Bali from April to October. Our Pitampura honeymoon planning team can help match dates, budget and destination.
